Tipping Point

Tipping Point
Shooting for Tipping Point formally started with taped interviews of Kirk Caldwell and Peter Carlisle on May 11th 2012, though research and planning started a few months earlier. The Co-Directors, Anthony Aalto and Mike Hinchey have been working on the film for over a year and anticipate another 5 months filming and post-production.

The production has about 100 hours of footage in the can. We anticipate the need for another 20 interviews, which means 20 half days shooting and another 20 hours of footage. This does not include any additional B roll, nor site visits to other successful rail/TOD projects in Bangkok, San Francisco and Vancouver.

We believe that a vital piece of the film is to show people how rail and TOD are not a penance to be endured as the price for saving farmland, but rather an opportunity to transform Honolulu into a truly wonderful place to live that can create distinct urban neighborhoods of mixed-use, walkable communities that will help make the city a model to the world and one of the great cities of the Pacific. In order to make that argument, we believe it is essential to show footage of cities where TOD has successfully built up around rail systems and to interview people who are delighted with how TOD has impacted their lives. To this end we propose brief site visits to Bangkok, San Francisco and Vancouver. Tipping Point is a project that is all self-funded. It is being filmed on our own free time, with almost no budget. As such we?re asking for your help to support us so that we can tell this needed story. This is an independent, grass roots film that we are doing simply because we believe in telling this story. But we need support to get this film finished and every little bit helps.

You may donate in increments of $20.00 and this donation is tax deductible. Mahalo and thank you. Mike and Anthony
