The Shame Of New York

The Shame Of New York
At the height of his teaching career, Marquis Cantrell?s integrity is attacked. Once praised as ?the new face of change?, by parents, students, politicians, celebrities and the media Marquis is now bracing for the legal fight of his life. One of the most controversial trials in New York City, ?The Shame of New York? is a phrase the local and national media has imposed upon Marquis? troubles. The media is obsessed (and disturbingly excited) by the famous New York City teacher---and children?s advocate----who is tarnished by criminal accusations of child sexual abuse.

The accuser, Daniel Alvarez (a 13 year-old boy) is supported by: a blood-thirsty prosecutor, New York Police officers (who previously conflicted with Marquis, for political reasons), his mother, Jessica Alvarez-Volpe (with a dubious past), and a former colleague. But the real provocateur of this entire conflict, will be the hyper-sensationalized, biased filter of the media. In the tradition of the classic film?Network?, ?The Shame of New York? is a tragic dance of truth and sensationalism, playing towards a shocking climax. ?The Shame of New York? will force viewers to question the power/influence the media wields over their decisions, as human beings.
